Hotel Review: Moxy Bremen

During a recent trip to Bremen, I stayed at the Moxy Bremen, located in the city’s up-and-coming Überseestadt district. This modern area, built on the grounds of the former port in the Walle neighborhood, is developing into one of the largest residential and business quarters in the city. It’s a great location for a short stay—close enough to the city center, but quiet and practical, with a business-minded atmosphere.

One of the main reasons I chose Moxy Bremen was its accessibility features, and I’m happy to report that in this area, the hotel really delivers. The accessible room on the ground floor was spacious and easy to navigate in a wheelchair.

The bathroom was well-adapted, with grab bars on both sides of the toilet—a detail that’s often overlooked even in supposedly accessible rooms. The shower area had a sturdy transfer chair, which felt safe and secure. The bed was at an ideal height for transfers, and there were no major obstructions or odd layouts that would hinder movement.

Everything, from light switches to countertops, was positioned at a convenient wheelchair-accessible height. I’d give the accessible room a solid 9 out of 10. The only minor inconvenience was the carpeted flooring, which made wheeling around a bit more effortful than necessary.

Room Comfort: Not Without Flaws

While the room’s layout and accessibility were excellent, I did find the comfort level to be somewhat lacking. The bed was quite firm, which some might prefer, but for me, it wasn’t particularly comfortable. More significantly, the room was noisy or poorly soundproofed. I could hear even minor noises from the hallway and neighboring rooms, which affected my sleep quality.

Hotel Facilities and Atmosphere

True to the Moxy brand, the hotel has a stylish, youthful vibe. The lobby is welcoming and modern, with an open design and areas to work, relax, or socialize. If you’re into grabbing a drink or a snack at odd hours, you’ll appreciate the 24/7 grab-and-go station, and the bar area is a cozy space to unwind. They even serve local beers and spirits, which adds a nice touch of Bremen flair.

There’s free superfast Wi-Fi throughout the hotel—great for planning the day or catching up on emails. Staff were friendly and approachable, happy to help with questions or directions.

Food & Drink

The hotel offers a breakfast buffet priced at €30 per person. It’s not the cheapest option, but the quality was high and the selection varied—definitely worth it if you like to start your day with a proper meal. If you prefer something lighter or more affordable, the grab-and-go options work well too.

Parking and Location

Moxy Bremen provides paid parking at the back of the hotel, which is especially convenient if you’re arriving by car. The hotel’s location in the business district means it's relatively quiet on weekends, but still well-connected to the city center and nearby attractions. Public transport options are within walking distance, and there are a few cafés and restaurants nearby if you want to explore outside the hotel.
